MULTI-CAMERA LIDAR SYSTEM FOR SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL PRESERVATION OF THE INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

Abstract. Cultural heritage preservation is becoming increasingly important in today's culture and advancements technology are enabling more effective of both tangible intangible cultural heritage. This paper proposes the development a system for documenting using multiple calibrated synchronized LiDAR cameras immersive dynamic surveying complex scenes. The prototype will be assembled low-cost sensors, specifically Intel® RealSense™ L515. thanks to higher number devices ensure full coverage scene acquired. biggest challenge represented by calibration phase, which, if carried out properly, allows collection correctly oriented point cloud from each individual devices. acquired clouds recorded at frequency 30 Hz create time-varying cloud, which can then viewed virtual reality environment. affordability components used combined with completeness data enable acquisition scenes, actions, events comprehensive perspective. goal lay groundwork multi-platform multi-sensor technologies capable acquiring level detail efforts.
